🏹Drafted by Tommie Michele🏹
Book one in The Drafted series.
Blurb:
Protection. Justice. Order.
Three words that haunt Reverie Adams every day.
For years, the government has advertised the Draft as necessary to preserve the future of Ordinem. Sacrifice a little freedom for the protection of all. But for Rev, that sacrifice struck a little too close to home.
Known to most of Ordinem as the Archer, Rev has turned vigilante with a single mission: to avenge her little sister’s disappearance eleven years ago and eliminate those responsible for the Draft. Upon taking out her latest targets, however, Rev makes a discovery that derails her plans: TJ and Riya Collins, their two secret children. Against her better judgment, Rev takes on the responsibility of keeping the two safe. And, despite her efforts, she forms a tenuous bond with them.
When the leader of the Draft puts a target on TJ’s back, Rev will have to risk everything for the people she cares about–even if it means putting her mission on the line and confronting the shadows of her past.
My thoughts:
I’ve heard about this book before, so I decided to give it a try; and boy, was I surprised! I loved how the story was set. The whole arc of forgiveness and the hinting of light vs. darkness was really well done!
I felt for Reverie so much. She really was trying to do the right thing.. even if that meant costing her life at the end.
And TJ. TJ was that kind of MMC that the FMC thought was an idiot.. he was quite lovable though! (Even though his decisions could’ve been better. Lookin’ at you too Rev!)🙃 It was really cool how all of Reverie’s friends all became the “group” and that none of them turned against her.
There are some things that parents might not like.. and it’s the violence. There’s some killing, threatening, and some torture. I personally didn’t think it was too bad, but some parents (or teens) could think it’s too much. It really depends on the household and what they think about it.
Also, this has no romance. On Goodreads, one of the genres is “clean romance”. I don’t know if that would be accurate?? I’ve also heard people say this has no romance and more of a friendship that blooms between TJ and Rev. But I mean, everyone has an opinion. I can see that maybe, there could be something more between Rev and TJ later; but i guess it just depends on how the story will continue.
More things I liked:
💕Dystopian society
💕So much sibling content!!! I love it so much!😆
💕The suspense. My poor heart! So many rollercoasters near the end.
💕Very clean YA!
⚠️ Age recommendation: 14+ ⚠️
My rating: 4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Sexual Content:
A couple of embraces (more friendly and comforting, than romantic) and some light handholding. Savi tells Rev that TJ might liked her. Thinking about having feelings for someone or if they had any.(2x) Riya accuses TJ of the Archer being his girlfriend.(She’s not)
Profanity:
Idiot and stupid is said a lot. What the—. Unsaid cursing.
Violence:
Fighting, death, killing, injuries, threatening, blood, and torture. (Mild) Rev kills a few people who were connected to the Draft. Some pain. TJ almost dies multiple times. Infants were taken from multiple families and sent to work for the Draft, when Rev was younger. Rev lives a two-faced life, so she’s told a lot of lies. Being held at gun-point, and at bow-point. TJ was tortured by a type of drug that made your brain tell your body to feel pain, when the body actually isn’t in pain.
POV’s: Switches between Reverie Adams and TJ Collins.
Pages: 377
This book was an amazing read! I really need to stop thinking that books aren’t going to have cliffhangers or sequels. I need to read book 2 now!!😄
