💛Island of Silence by Lisa McMann.💛
Book two in The Unwanteds series. Review of Book #1 HERE!
Blurb:
In Artimé, Alex Stowe and his friends continue to hone their artistic magical spells while welcoming newcomers, wondering how long this peace between Quill and Artimé will last. Alex is stunned when Mr. Today comes to him with a very special request—one Alex questions his readiness for, until circumstances offer a dramatic answer.
And back in Quill, Aaron Stowe, Alex’s twin, faces a very different path. Devastated by his loss of status after Justine’s defeat and seething with rage toward Alex, Aaron is stealthily planning his revenge and return to power.
Alex and Aaron’s separate stories proceed with suspenseful pacing, colliding in a stunning climax that elevates sibling rivalry to epic proportions and leaves the fate of both worlds hanging in the balance.
My thoughts:
This was a bumpy ride of a book! All the crazy things happened so fast.😧
In this second book, Alex and Aaron’s story continues and we see a lot more leadership and action coming from them. Although, Alex was a lot more doubtful and less confident about himself. Especially when Mr. Today chooses Alex for a big role, and Alex has a decision to make. I personally think it was sweet that Alex was humble about himself but; by the end, I was getting frustrated at how it got to a point where Alex couldn’t really decide on what he wanted to do.
It seemed that Alex and the other kids were separated because of Mr. Today pulling on him and meeting him; which was kind of sad, but I guess, it was needed for Alex to start becoming a leader. Simber is such a sweet teddy bear cat, even when he tries to hide it with gruffness! Ahhhh! I just love him so much and he always makes me laugh. Don’t ya’ll just love those types of characters??
Personally, I think that this second book was filled with a whole bunch of information to get you ready for the third book; there was just a lot of things that happened that made your head spin.🫨 But I enjoyed this sequel to the series and am eager to continue Alex and Aaron’s story!

Ages 10-12 rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ages 13-14 rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ages 15-16 rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sexual Content:
Liking somebody, attraction, noticing, admiration, and blushing. Remembering a cheek kiss that happened in the first book. Some embraces and light touching. A fingers to lips touch (not romantic). A little bit of flirting. Mentions of Samheed’s jealousy when seeing a girl with another guy. Mentions of Samheed liking a girl. A mention of Alex liking a girl more than he liked to admit to anyone. A mention of Samheed thinking that “getting to hang around with two creative, smart, talented girls on a beautiful beach was not his idea of a bad time at all.”
Profanity:
Crud, What in the name of Quill, stupid, crudbucket, What…the world, and dang it are all said as light cursing. Idiot and dolt is said as an insult.
Violence:
Some fight scenes, death, and killing. Screaming in pain. Being captured and tortured. (This is all not above semi-detailed)
Trigger Warning:‼️
The Unwanteds are taught magic and spells. Mythical creature are in this book that were made by Mr. Today. Using spells to fight.
POV’s: Switches between a lot of people , but mostly: Alex Stowe and Aaron Stowe.
406 pages
If you’re looking for a cute middle grade series to continue with lots of fantasy, magic and action; I would totally recommend this book, after you read the first book, of course! Off to the third book!
