๐Summer of Suspense by C. R. Hedgcock๐
Book one in the Baker Family Adventures.
Blurb:
When Phil, Abby, Andy, and Tom Baker hear that their cousin Millie will visit their farm for the summer, little do they imagine what a dreary time they will have with the snobbish girl. But when Millie disappears, life quickly becomes anything but dreary.
What starts out as a summer of chores and horse-riding on the farm turns into a cross-country adventure, as the Bakers find themselves matching wits with a notorious jewelry thief who pulls them into her web. Aided by a seasoned detective, the Bakers confront numerous dangers in their search for Millie, all while attempting to foil the plot of a major crime ring—making it a summer they will never forget.
My thoughts:
This was a cute little read!
I’ve read this book multiple times before, when I was younger; but it still held my interest. The Baker Family is so adorable! Their family is so centered on love, honor, respect, and above all, Christ.
Sibling content!!๐ Philip, Andy, Abby, and Tom were all so close with each other, and you could really see that they cared for each other. Millie took a lot longer for me to actually understand and like, since I was not a fan of her attitude and snobby behavior; but she did get into my “good books” for actually seeing what she did wrong and confessing it.
I really liked seeing the family’s faith and trust in God when things got hard. The whole neighborhood seemed so caring, like how a neighbor is supposed to be.๐ฉท
This book is so sweet and very clean! A great start to the series, and I hope to review the rest of the Baker Family Adventures and see what’s next in this family’s lives!
