Emily Windsnap and the Monster from the Deep by Liz Kessler

💜Emily Windsnap and the Monster from the Deep by Liz Kessler💜

Book Two in the Emily Windsnapseries. Review of Book One HERE!

Blurb:

Picture an island set in a glittering blue sea, sparkling with white sand and palm trees, a secret place where humans and merfolk live together. To Emily Windsnap — half mermaid, half human — her new home is perfect. That is, until Emily ruins everything by waking a legendary sea monster known as the kraken from its hundred-year sleep. . . . An enchanting tale with a fabulous monster, engaging characters, and plenty of mermaid magic, this second fantasy about Emily Windsnap is filled with charm and warmth.

My thoughts:

This was a cute sequel to the series! It was a bit harder to get into the story.. but soon enough it got my attention. Although, I found the first book more enjoyable than this second book.

I liked the character development with Emily, her mother, and her father! Emily wanted to explore and make new friends at the new place she was living.. she also got to learn an important life lesson. I loved the dynamic between Emily and her father! By the end of the book, it seemed like everything between them had been changed for the good. I especially liked seeing more of a caring mother in Emily’s mom; which I had wished there was more of in the first book. So that’s a check ✅ for me!

*I also want to note that ,in this book, there were more instances that God’s name was taken in vain, so I took away a star for that.* 😕

The plot was interesting enough. I feel like most sequels have that “This was just to fill in the space between the 1st and the 3rd book” kind of element. But I enjoyed reading this sequel to the series. I fully intend to keep continuing this fun and SWISHY series! I can see lots of younger girls enjoying this series.. if they like tales of mermaids, some action, and fantasy!
