🩷Fifteen by Beverly Cleary 🩷
Book one in the First Love series.
Blurb:
It seems too good to be true. The most popular boy in school has asked Jane out—and she’s never even dated before. Stan is tall and good-looking, friendly and hard-working—everything Jane ever dreamed of. But is she ready for this?
Suppose her parents won’t let her go? What if she’s nervous and makes a fool of herself? Maybe he’ll think she’s too young. If only she knew all the clever things to say. If only she were prettier. If only she were ready for this…
My thoughts:
Happy early Valentine’s Day!!
Oh my gosh… this book is SO CUTE.
I was craving for a sweet teenage romance and I was deeply satisfied. This book didn’t really have a plot to cipher or understand… it was just a nice, cozy read that didn’t get me all topsy turvy. In my opinion, I think it’s nice to read something like this, every now and then; something that’s calming and relaxing, instead of that feeling you get in a plot-twist book. What about y’all?? What’s y’all’s opinion?🤔
I feel like Jane could’ve been less focused on meeting a boy, but I mean, I can’t complain when that particular boy is Stan Crandall. I also felt like Jane was a little child-like sometimes?? Idk.. there was just some moments where she felt younger than she was. Although, she did grow as the book went on… which made this like a Coming of Age book, which makes sense about her being a little childish in the beginning of the book.
Stan was a doll! He was so nice as Jane put it, and quietly sweet. I loved all the moments with him and Jane.😍
Though, I wish Buzz would’ve just kept to himself closer to the end… I really didn’t like him butting into Stan and Jane’s relationship with that silly moment and bad decision made by Jane. I am happy though, that by the end, Stan and Jane had their VERY SWEET moment! Argghhh! I loved it so much.
⚠️ Age recommendation: 15+ ⚠️
My rating: 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sexual Content:
Two kisses (one not so detailed, the other semi-detailed), light holding hands at the end, and an embrace. Noticing (very, very light), very few touches (light), Blushing, Flirting, and Teasing. All about dating and dates. In the beginning of the book, Jane kind of obsesses over wanting to meet a boy, and thinking of scenarios of how it would happen. Buzz comments on how a girl’s leg aren’t half bad. Fantasizing about Stan. Mentions of Jane’s parents saying how all the girls now are boy crazy. Light love, and the emotions.
Profanity:
A few stupids.
Violence:
None
POV’s: Jane Purdy
203 pages
This was a lovely sweet read, and it also has gotten me interested in the other books Beverly Cleary has written! Have a lovely Valentines weekend!💌
