Trapped by Magic by Nicki Chapelway

🌟Trapped By Magic by Nicki Chapelway🌟

Book 2 of the Novella series, Of Seas and Tides.

Blurb:

For fans of The Cruel Prince and those who always wanted to see Draco end up with Hermione, this enemies to lovers fake dating romance is sure to entice.

A crime lord’s daughter, a vampire with a secret, and the bed of lies that will seal their fate.

Though her father is a powerful crime lord and leader of a reclusive assassins guild, Bronwyn has always had to work hard to get what she wants. The ancient spellbook she has her eye on is no exception. She will do what it takes to get her hands on that kind of power, even if she has to pretend to be a student to earn the trust of its caretaker.

But when she discovers that her handsome but cruel first year tormentor is actually a vampire with his own plans for the academy, Bronwyn’s life is put in danger. If his associates learn that she knows of a growing vampire infestation, they will kill her. Though neither is eager to work together—to save her life—they enter into an uneasy pact. A fake romance to fool everyone around them while they continue to work to their own ends. They don’t need to get along or even trust each other, they just have to make the world believe that they are madly in love.

And yet this devious vampire has a way of making the spark of their affections feel a bit too convincing.

My Thoughts:

I literally was squealing inside the whole time I read this book, not gonna lie. If you’re a big fan of Harry Potter, you would definitely love this novella! Wilder and Bronwyn came to life. Their personalities and features described in the book were 100% Draco and Hermione, and I loved that! To be honest, I’ve never really thought about a Draco and Hermione love story before or even wished for one… but, this book had me rooting for Wilder and Bronwyn so HARD! A little secret between you and me.. I liked this change of story, but I can’t deny that I love and won’t stop shipping Ron and Hermione.🤫🤫

Ok, so I know we see, in the beginning of the book, that Wilder was like a total jerk to Bronwyn; but you could see the signs of attraction and it was kind of obvious that he wanted her to notice him. I mean it was cute in a way but I was literally saying, “Just be a little nicer and she might notice you’re more than just a jerk!”

I loved the plot being in a magical school. It gave Harry Potter vibes!

I’ve just recently learned that I love a good enemies to lovers trope. I don’t know why I do; there’s just something about the banter, the teasing, the romance, and much more that just tickles me! EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Not that I don’t like any of the other tropes.. those are great too. 😊

⚠️Age recommendation: 14-15+⚠️

My rating: 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sexual Content:

A few kisses (most of them are mildly detailed), a cheek kiss, caresses, holding hands, embraces, and touches. Wanting to kiss and remembering kisses. Mentions of kissing in private and in public. Attraction, Blushing, and Teasing. Noticing (curves and Bronwyn’s collarbone). All about fake dating. Wilder thinking about the reason why he was always mean to Bronwyn. (He secretly admired and was attracted to her.) Trying not to notice how someone looks. Trying not to fall in love, falling in love, and the emotions.

Enemies to lovers trope.

Profanity:

None

Violence:

Some fighting scenes, death, blood, and mentions of killing.
Wilder is a vampire and all the mentions of that. (His father forced him to be a vampire) Mentions of thieving and threatening to kill people. Mentions of child abuse from a father. Wilder and Bronwyn’s fathers are both in some sort of scheme (Bronwyn’s father as a crime lord, and Wilder’s father wanting to turn people into vampires).

Other content:

Small mentions of worshipping gods and demigods. Magic and Sorcery. Mentions of a necromancer.

Trigger Warning:‼️

This book is all about magic, sorcery, vampires, and the like.

POV’s: Wilder, Bronwyn, and (1x) Elwis in the Epilogue

Number of Pages: 149

This was a cozy little read! Definitely a book to pick up if you’re looking for a short, sweet romantasy to curl up on the couch for!☺️
