The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen

๐Ÿ‘‘The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen ๐Ÿ‘‘

Book #1 in the Ascendance series.

Blurb:

In a discontent kingdom, civil war is brewing. To unify the divided people, Conner, a nobleman of the court, devises a cunning plan to find an impersonator of the king's long lost son and install him as a puppet prince. Four orphans are recruited to compete for the role, including a defiant boy named Sage. Sage knows that Conner's motives are more than questionable, yet his life balances on a sword's point-he must be chosen to play the prince or he will certainly be killed. But Sage's rivals have their own agendas as well.

As Sage moves from a rundown orphanage to Conner's sumptuous palace, layer upon layer of treachery and deceit unfold, until finally, a truth is revealed that, in the end, may very well prove more dangerous than all of the lies taken together.

AHHH MY MIND!!

WHAT WAS THAT?!!

I think my mind is still trying to wrap around that whole plot twist called an ending.. like it’s been weeks and my brain is still processing ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿคฏ

This book just proved how good of a writer Jennifer Nielsen is!

Like.. that plot twist that I did NOT see coming?!

Yeah you heard right.. I didn’t even think about that being a possibility!

And I feel like listening to the audiobook for the first time ever reading it made it SO MUCH better and I also give the narrator an A+ because I thought his voice was perfect for Sage.

And just so I heard right.. [Major Spoiler]

Sage is Prince Jaron and Princess Jaron is Sage??!!

~ Sage ~

Honestly he’s my favorite. Smart, Clever, Sarcastic, Humble but had confidence, Brave but yet not scared to be afraid, Kind…

Great Qualities right?  He would make a great king one day, just sayin. I loved how we got to know him but I have a feeling that there’s a LOT more to know about him as we continue the series.

Also, Team Sage and Imogen ALL THE WAY!

~ Conner ~

Ugghhh.. I loathed him, really.

~ Rodin ~

Too full of himself.. no thank you!!

He deserved what he got by the end.

~ Tobias ~

Didn’t like him at first BUT ☝️ he grew on me by the middle-ish part of the book and I started thinking “no no don’t kill him! He actually was starting to do some good!!”

~ Imogen ~

We didn’t get to see a lot of her.. but we got to see enough of her to see her compassion ,and sweet and quiet nature.

I can already see me loving her in the near future!

I could not recommend this book enough!! I need the second book ASAP ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿฅฒ๐Ÿ˜…

A fantastic book full of action, fantasy, a 15th century feel, and politics!! That being said, IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THIS YET.. PLEASE GO READ IT!!

Sexual Content:

2 cheek kisses, a couple of embraces, and very light touches. Some slight noticing, and thinking someone is pretty. A mention of marriage, an arranged marriage, and the crowned prince having to marry the girl Jaron was promised to. A tiny bit of dancing but mostly practicing with older women. A girl nurses Sage’s wounds on his back. A tiny bit of emotions and feelings but it’s very vague and  only hints at it.

Profanity:

No cussing.

Stupid was said i think.

Violence:

Some blood, killing, murder, fighting, sword fighting,  threatening, getting cut by a knife, seeing someone die, Sage used to steal.

Pain. Getting whipped and beaten.

All of this is pretty moderate and definitely normal for a fantasy book. (PG)

Blurb:

I’m Jessica Larsen. My mom’s a powerhouse entrepreneur, my sister’s a doctor, and I’m… an author with a normal 9-to-5 that I can’t seem to keep. After getting fired (again) and dumped by my boyfriend of two years (again), I have no choice but to take a job as a caretaker for my eccentric grandfather in a tiny town with nothing to do.

At least I’ll have time to write—unless, of course, I get roped into something ridiculous. Like bonding with my grandfather over his secret past as a detective. Or stumbling onto a murder way too close to home.

Now, with my grandfather’s old case files and a town full of quirky suspects, I have to solve this mystery-because surely, it can’t be that different from writing crime novels… right?

My thoughts:

๐Ÿ“Œ Indie Author FMC

๐Ÿ“Œ Neurodivergent amateur sleuth

๐Ÿ“Œ Cold-case with a recent murder

๐Ÿ“Œ Cat as companion

๐Ÿ“Œ Fall vibes

๐Ÿ“Œ Suspenseful moments

“You only think your mind’s frazzled because that’s what everyone keeps telling you. You can’t keep up in this society, because this society wasn’t built for your mind—just theirs.”

Wow.. I cannot believe how suspenseful and thrilling that was! ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿคฏ It seemed like after the first few chapters we’re thrown headfirst into a mystery that’ll make you wonder and turn pages furiously until you find out what happens next.

~ Plot ~

It was like something happened, one after the other, and I couldn’t stop having my own theories of “who did what” and “who I think is bad”. I would’ve never guessed who did it if not for the minor clues and suspicous activity coming from that man…(no spoilers from me!) I also loved how this book gave Fall vibes! ๐Ÿ

“He breathed a chuckle. ‘You’re a ten out of ten normally, but with a gun in your hand, you’re an eleven, so yeah, I’m willing to take the risk.’”

—> Jessica

To put it simply, I loved her!

(1) She was an Indie Fantasy Author [loved that!] (2) She was a quiet yet sweet soul who just needed somebody to love her for who she was. I wanted to give her a big hug! (3) Because she didn’t realize she was beautiful inside and OUT (and 4) In the end, she didn’t let people get the best of her. Although she made a terrible mistake of trying to change HERSELF for a man… she finally realized that she didn’t have to and that the right man would lover her for who she is. I practically was screaming MICHAEL, MICHAEL, MICHAEL!!!

“I’m a man. I know how a guy’s mind works. And you, Jessica Larsen, you’re a catch worth taking a bullet for.”

—> Thomas

Don’t get me started on him!!! He made my blood boil. Like who does this guy think he is to literally give up the BEST girl he could have and all because she was too dependent on him?!! All he was, was manipulative and toxic to Jessica (poor girl and her emotions).

“You are the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time, Jessica Larsen. You’re funny and beautiful and smart as a whip. And I’d love for you to be my girlfriend. So, will you be my girlfriend?”

—> Michael

swoons. Is there hope for man like him in my future?? I hope so… cuz he was the sweetest! So protective and kind, plus he was a Cop too ๐Ÿ˜. I loved how he kept saying he’d wait and let Jessica think about having a relationship with him. It was adorable how he would constantly flirt giving her compliment after compliment ๐Ÿ’ž

In conclusion, I very much enjoyed this cozy mystery! There wasn’t a boring moment and I hope to continue this cozy series and see what mysteries and trouble Jessica gets into!

The perfect match can’t be far–certainly not at a Regency-themed singles retreat–or so podcaster Zoe Dufour believes. After years of creating content for her relationship podcast inspired by Regency etiquette and era-appropriate rules for romance, she knows her listeners have anticipated this retreat. But she also attends with expectations of her finding the ideal modern-day gentleman who can meet every one of the nonnegotiables on her checklist.

Harrison Lundquist, Zoe’s podcast producer and best friend’s brother, reluctantly agrees to attend the retreat to capture footage while seeking a career-advancing promotion. He views the retreat as ridiculous. And Zoe’s methods for finding her real-life Mr. Darcy? Downright absurd! But as he films her whirlwind dates, his growing feelings for her are sidelined by suitors vying for her attention. When Zoe realizes her ideal checklist might be holding her back, she must decide if she’s willing to rewrite her rules and take a chance on the person who has been there all along.

~ Narrators ~

I listened to the audiobook and I may (at first) disliked the narrators but, soon enough it started clicking with the characters and I started imagining them to sound like the narrators.

~ Plot ~

This book had me rolling!!! So much humor and hilarious moments, and yet Rushmeyer puts the serious trials and faith into a greater perspective in how to live our lives to the fullest but still trusting in God, for He knows our future and does what is best for us.

—> Miss Zoe Dufour

The “Love advice by Regency rules” Podcaster. The Pride and Prejudice Enthusiast. The love of Harrison’s life…

She was great! A little stubborn at times (those times being a little more than frustrating with her choices regarding “suitors”) but she came through. I also felt like her having a chronic illness made her more real in a way for me.. I want to point out, as well, that she was a Plant Mama!! I literally kicked my feet and giggled ๐Ÿ˜‚ (I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where the FMC is a plant lover.) ๐ŸคซIt’s because my mom is one, haha๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿ˜‚ Zoe had a sweet clumsiness about her and such a loving and shy spirit that made her so lovable.

—> Mr. Harrison Lundquist

The best friend’s brother. The podcast producer. The sweet guy who’s got it bad for his sister’s friend…

He was so hilarious and yet SO SWOONY! He was the reason I would burst out laughing while I was listening to the audiobook. And that library scene… and in his room.. *cough cough* [Blushes and giggles giddily] I’ll leave that to you in whether or not you want to find out what happens, and not just in those parts… every single one.

I just adored this book! A great lovely book with faith, love, and a whole lot of Regency vibes! Would totally recommend! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—

๐ŸŒŠWhere We Went Wrong by Anastasia Layne๐ŸŒŠ

Tropes and things you’ll love:

๐ŸŒŠ Second Chance

๐ŸŒŠ Summer Romance

๐ŸŒŠ First Kiss

๐ŸŒŠ Flashbacks

๐ŸŒŠ Mutual Pining

๐ŸŒŠ Dual POV

When I had first seen this book as a recommendation on a website for clean books.. I immediately saw this one and wanted to read it. I don’t often read second chance romances so I decided to try it out! It definitely was a cutsie read, it just wasn’t entirely my favorite. There’s always this factor in second chance romances, of that miscommunication vibe and the hurt you see in them.. they never fail to make me feel frustrated in that sort of way when you it want the characters to ‘fess up already lol. Well, I felt a lot of that in this book. It did make you anxious for the ending though! Although, the way the author wrote their confessions and their very sweet moment after forgiving one another was SO ADORABLE. I liked the characters, the romance was sweet, and the beach vibes definitely gave it a good flavor for summer!

—> Melody

She wasn’t my favorite but she wasn’t bad either. She was hurt, heartbroken, and trying but not succeeding to forget all about the MMC. I loved how she was loyal to her best friend and that her best friend was oblivious, OBLIVIOUS I TELL YOU, to all the tension going on between her and Axel. It was kinda funny when Melody had finally told her about her crush on her big brother lol.

—> Axel

He was a cutie! Even though he had this sort of attitude towards Melody and stuff it made me get a little mad at him but just like Melody.. I fell for his charm, wit, and lovableness (is that a word?) He was also hurt.. and yeah I felt bad for him but I was still like “you could’ve told her about what happened ages ago and you waited all this time”.

The flashbacks were a plus too! I liked how the author didn’t leave us in the dark about what happened, then finding out later.. this was much more efficient, but it made you crazy for them to make it up to each other lol. Their flashback to their first kiss was.. something. It definitely had that sizzling, swooning effect on you.. and had a bit more details than I was okay with but it didn’t cross that line. And the kisses after their flashback were not near so detailed as their first kiss in the past so I was thankful for that.

—> Conclusion

I enjoyed this quick YA Summer Romance and I would definitely recommend reading on vacation, at the beach, or anywhere lately. If you’re looking for a clean summer read then this might be one to look into! This book will have you wishing to be on the beach while watching a sunset!

A Quest for Deliverance by Cara E. Ruegg

๐Ÿ•ฏ️A Quest for Deliverance by Cara E. Ruegg๐Ÿ•ฏ️

Book #4 in the Multi Author standalone series, Lives of Legends. [Books can be read in any order]

ARC Review! ๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿ“– Expected Publication Date: August 29, 2025 ๐Ÿ“–

Blurb:

Ariadne has never believed in the gods her father worships, the ones who demand blood sacrifices and rule with fear. She knows that they’re not gods, just people with strange powers—like her. But in a court where power is everything, revealing her secret could make her a pawn in her father’s ruthless game.

When a stranger arrives, immune to her abilities and shrouded in mystery, Ariadne is drawn to him. But falling for him could be her undoing, especially when her father condemns him to the Labyrinth, a maze that no one escapes alive. Determined to save him, Ariadne ventures into the maze herself, guided by her hidden abilities and an unlikely ally.

A Quest for Deliverance, a retelling of Theseus and Ariadne, is a standalone no-spice novella, complete with tropes like forbidden romance, enemies to lovers vibes, and self-discovery. It is part of the “Lives of Legend” series, a collection of twelve retellings of Greek myths where the tragedies become happily ever afters. Each book is written by a different author so it can be enjoyed in any order. The proceeds from this series are donated to the Human Coalition to provide for mothers facing crisis pregnancies.

My thoughts:

Another great book written by Cara Ruegg!

I didn’t even realize this was part of a multi author series, until like last night… yeah, we don’t talk about that. It’s actually a pretty quick and sweet little book that I would almost call it a novella?? ๐Ÿค”

I thought the Greek Mythology woven in this book was pretty cool and interesting! I had never heard of Ariadne and Theseus’s story before so it was something new. There were these little curveballs in the story that kept my mind tossing and turning.. asking myself questions furiously like, “who is she gonna end up with?” or “she better not end up with him!”. Not gonna say who though! ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Ariadne —> was such a humble person and I loved that about her. She was that princess ‘god’ that visited and had compassion on the poor. She was bit naive and fell in love with this “faker” that didn’t even love her and was just messing with her emotions. But all things went well by the end! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ‍๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ˜„

Theseus —> didn’t really like him ๐Ÿ˜’ He really didn’t have any depth until the end.

Dionysus —> the “god”… he grew on meeee [swoon] I think that’s all I’ll say.. I don’t wanna give anything else away ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜…

“I wish to kiss you now, believe me, but I want it to be at the moment I can fully say, ‘You’re mine.’”

In conclusion, this was a cute and squeaky clean little book with hardly any details in the romance, had no language, and not a lot of details on the Greek Mythology (my opinion).

I received this ARC (Advanced Readers Copy) from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review! Thank you to Cara E. Ruegg for the opportunity!

Mark of Orion by S. L. Richardson

Book One in the Guardians of Orion trilogy.

Blurb:

If you like sinister demons, warrior angels, supernatural powers, ancient lineages, with a twist of deception and ruthless revenge… then you don’t want to miss this new exciting page-turning series!

Three Teens…

Three Fallen…

Humanity’s future is at stake.

Seventeen-year-old Olivia has seen some wild things living in Las Vegas—but never a demon—until one attacks but fails to kidnap her. Left with a celestial mark on her chest, Olivia sets out on a treacherous journey with two friends who share in her mystical lineage, only to find herself blindsided by the unwelcomed return of her absent father. Now, she must unravel her parent’s deceit and grapple with her painful past all the while unlocking the powerful secrets that will forever change her world. Except she’s also fighting her growing attraction to one of her friends while thrust into the unending war between the Fallen and Archangels.

When the Fallen maliciously strike against her and plot revenge upon those she loves, Olivia finds herself faced with an impossible mission.

Can she leave her life behind and enhance her powers to master the supernatural skills needed to slay the Fallen while guarding the secrets of Orion?

Of course. Not a problem. Except if she fails, the balance between Heaven and Hell will shift—leaving mankind at the mercy of the ultimate evil and his bloodthirsty horde.

My thoughts:

Wow… I really wasn’t expecting this. I got so much more than I was expecting. It was different than my usual read, but a good different! I would say that’s it’s either a hit or miss. I know some people have a problem with Angels and Demons being in books, but then some don’t, so it really depends on you. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The plot was pretty crazy! I really liked how the author mixed both the story in the beginning of Genesis and Fiction together. The moment when they became Guardians??? So cool! There was so much action and suspense to keep me going.

I really liked all the characters! There was a lot of character development in our trio. ๐Ÿ™‚ I liked Olivia.. she was alright! She was going through some hard things but still managed to be strong. Although I really wished she could’ve forgave her dad. Sergio was a good best friend! Loyal and supportive.. I kind of got worried for him by the end ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿซ  Zach… ahh he was my favorite! The cute guy who Olivia had a crush on.. the sweetest guy Liv could ask for! So reliable too!

(NOTE!)

There were some parts that were just… kinda dark, mostly where the demons and Lucifer were involved. I liked how it didn’t go over semi-detailed in those parts, though. We also see the perspective of an angel who has “sinned” and turns evil.

Overall, Mark of Orion was a great start to this trio’s journey! I really enjoyed it although I would caution for younger readers.

Oh my goodness..

I had been craving for a sweet romance to read and this definitely gave it!

I definitely had been caught off guard by that first kiss on THE DAY THAT THEY MET.. but hey, everything went according to plan.. I got the romance, the story, and the ending that I wanted so I can’t complain.. much :))

I definitely loved the whole aspect of both main characters being Gamers.. even though I’m not a Gamer or technically very interested in video games (although I do enjoy playing them once in a while).

Anyways, let’s talk about Luna and Henry…

I really liked Luna, she was very real in a sense. She wasn’t Miss Perfect where everything was alright and everything was all Cupcakes and Rainbows. No, she actually was going through some stuff and had went through some things as well. I liked that about her.. and while she was clumsy at times, and could be a bit awkward; it wasn’t her looks (though she was pretty), but it was her kindness, and her willingness to see the best in things, even though it was a hard situation; that made her so beautiful in my eyes -as well as Henry’s . And i know that at the end, she was in a complete mess, but she was BRAVE enough to face it. I also adored Luna’s family! I would laugh all the time when her family would come into the picture. There was a right amount of sarcasm, silliness, love, kindness, and faithfulness put into her family by the author.

Henry, for a rich businessman, was very sweet and down to earth. He was loyal to his family, and Luna. The way he treats everybody respectfully and with equality was also admirable. Overall, Henry wasn’t my favorite MMC but I give him a 4/5.

In conclusion, I liked this clean Rom-Com! If you’re looking for a clean, sweet rom-com with a Gamer’s twist and insta love, then I would recommend this one!๐Ÿ˜

Peril on Providence Island by C. R. Hedgcock

๐ŸงกPeril on Providence Island by C. R. Hedgcock๐Ÿงก

Book Two in The Baker Family Adventures series. Review of Book #1http://evsnoveldelights.blogspot.com/2025/09/summer-of-suspense-by-c-r-hedgcock.html HERE!

Blurb:

The Bakers are full of excitement as they head to the English countryside to celebrate Grandfather Wilson’s eightieth birthday.

When an elderly neighbor with Alzheimer’s Disease tells a tale of treasure lost on the high seas, the Bakers are sure she has confused reality with fiction. But as they find information that supports Old Marge’s story, they begin wondering whether there is truth in it after all.

Can the discovery of an ancient treasure help Old Marge stay in her beloved cottage and out of a nursing home? This question sends the Bakers on a swashbuckling adventure of mystery and peril, following an old diary through mysterious caves and a maze of clues in search of the missing treasure. Along the way, their quest is marked by amazing providences that point to this key conclusion: God’s ways are always right and true.

My thoughts:

Let me first start off this review by saying that I recommend this book and series so much for kids. It’s very influencing in a good way, because of how the Baker Family’s lives revolve around Christ and Christianity and it’s so encouraging! Their family is so lovable and as you keep getting to know them book by book, you start getting attached as if they are real. This is what makes C. R. Hedgcock a good writer! She makes it real.. not only the characters; but the story and the Faith portrayed in this book.

In this sequel of the series, we see that the Baker Family is on another adventure. An adventure in England! We also get to see some favorite characters come back from the first book as well! ๐Ÿ˜❤️

The mystery was very well thought out, and was solved by the end of the book. (Thank goodness, no cliffhangers lol) The sibling relationship among Philip, Abby, Andy, and Tom was so sweet ๐Ÿฅน and I absolutely loved their Grandparents!

In conclusion this was a great sequel to the series and a good book that younger kids would enjoy!

I’m literally speechless.. like this was SUCH AN AMAZING BOOK. I finished this in one night, guys. ONE NIGHT! I could not stop reading.. thanks to Kasie West for making a brilliant book.. I also give thanks to her for giving me less sleep :/.. oh well! To be honest, I had lower expectations about this book; just because I’ve tried to read Love, Life, and the List but I just couldn’t get into that one for a couple of reasons (although maybe later I’ll get into it more than I did before)… I’m so glad that I gave Kasie West another try! This book was so adorable ๐Ÿ˜

I swooned A WHOLE TON, I almost cried, and I laughed. This is literally all I can say about it without going into a huge mess of words. I loved both Lily and Cade so much!

And I have to say that I called it with Cade way before Lily did. ๐Ÿ˜ If I could I would talk about this book for hours…That being said, whoever is reading this review and hasn’t read this book yet: GO READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!

Book Three in The Starlore Legacy series.

Review of Book 1 HERE! Book 2 HERE!

Blurb:

The Raylean people teeter on the edge of annihilation. Can Daeson lead the quest for their promised homeworld?

Daeson finds himself a prisoner in a tribal world where the law of survival rules. Gone is the hope of the promised homeworld given by the mighty Immortal, Ell Yon. Daeson must fight to restore a future to the Raylean people, but to succeed he must overcome the marauders of cruel worlds, the tragedy of quantum peril, and the arch-enemy of the Sovereign Ell Yon, Lord Dracus. The odds are mounting against him. The relentless loyalty of his friend, Tig, sustains him as he rediscovers the power of the Protector. Can he lead the Rayleans to freedom once more?

My thoughts:

This is the saddest book of the series, yet! I felt for Daeson, like really felt for him. I feel like I’ve gotten to know him and Raviel on a personal level and it hurt to see him in such agony over a loss. (I don’t think I’ll spoil it just yet with yall! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‰ haha, If you haven’t read it, of course! )

This was my third time reading this and it’s still as good as the first time I read it. I loved how the allegory progressed! From how it was an allegory about Moses in Book 1 and 2.. now it is an allegory about Joshua! The obvious love between Daeson and Raviel was so beautifully written! I ate up all the crumbs Chuck Black gave us when our sweet couple was involved, lol! We also see even more of Tig’s loyalty to Daeson and it makes him even MORE lovable. ๐Ÿฅฐ And maybe a romantic relationship between him and someone special ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ The plot was full of adventure and time slips and was very interesting to read!

In conclusion, I very much enjoyed reading this book, even though it was the third time. I would totally recommend this book!

The Sisters of Sea View by Julie Klassen

๐ŸŒธThe Sisters of Sea View by Julie Klassen๐ŸŒธ

Book One in the On Devonshire Shores series

Blurb:

Some guests have come for a holiday, others for hidden reasons of their own . . .

When their father’s death leaves them impoverished, Sarah Summers and her genteel sisters fear they will be forced to sell the house and separate to earn livelihoods as governesses or companions. Determined to stay together, Sarah convinces them to open their seaside home to guests to make ends meet and provide for their ailing mother. Instead of the elderly invalids they expect to receive, however, they find themselves hosting eligible gentlemen. Sarah is soon torn between a growing attraction to a mysterious Scottish widower and duty to her family.

Viola Summers wears a veil to cover her scar. When forced to choose between helping in her family’s new guest house and earning money to hire a maid to do her share, she chooses the latter. She reluctantly agrees to read to some of Sidmouth’s many invalids, preferring the company of a few elders with failing eyesight to the fashionable guests staying in their home. But when her first client turns out to be a wounded officer in his thirties, Viola soon wishes she had chosen differently. Her new situation exposes her scars–both visible and those hidden deep within–and her cloistered heart will never be the same.

Join the Summers sisters on the Devonshire coast, where they discover the power of friendship, loyalty, love, and new beginnings.

My thoughts:

This was just what I was craving, a sweet historical regency romance with a summer-y twist … plus, it gives Little Women vibes! I loved the dynamic the sisters had with each other. I don’t have any sisters so I’ve never had the bond a girl has with her sister… except with my mom. But if you live with a bunch of boys like meee then I think you know the feeling of sometimes wanting someone close to you like that.

Anyways… The story was a little slow-ish…like a teeny tiny bit slow but not slow enough to get me bored. It definitely was a slow-burn romance for one couple. And that couple…. THEY WERE THE CUTEST!! Major Jack Hutton and Viola Summers were made for each other perfectly! They both had their scars and hurts, and both were able to help heal that hurt in each other and find true love. Love, that whatever scars you bear, however you may look does not matter; what matters is the heart inside. I found that incredibly beautiful and Julie Klassen couldn’t have portrayed that better in this book.

I also liked the rest of the Summers sisters.. Sarah was the serious, more mature sister that always took charge… and I SO BADLY wanted her to end up with [spoiler!] ⬇️

Mr. Henshall! I really liked him… I love a good Scottish guy, hehe ๐Ÿ˜œ

[end of spoiler]

Emily was the bubbly and confident sister and I have to say that I knew there was something wrong with Mr. Stanley!!! Lastly the two other sisters we don’t hear from a lot are Georgiana and Claire.. “Georgie” was the youngest sister and was still going through the process of growing up.. and lastly Claire, we don’t know a lot about her, only of past happenings that were remembered by some of the sisters.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed and adored this book! It was definitely a delightful book to read in summer and I fully intend to continue the series and see what else happens to these sisters! Read if you like Regency Historical Fiction set in summer with Little Women vibes!

(Clean YA Rom-com)

๐Ÿ“šThe Bookworm by Kylie Key๐Ÿ“š

Book 2 in The Girls We Love: Covington Prep series. [But can be read out of order]

Blurb:

The Popular Jock and the Bookish Nerd

I’m Tennessee Jackson, wide receiver, touchdown scoring machine. When Millie Conway interviews me for the school paper, I’m caught a little off guard. In all my years at Covington Prep, we’ve never shared a class. Like, brains, bookish—it’s not really my thing. She’s one of the smartest kids in school, which puts her way out of my league, but there’s something about Millie that makes my heart skip a beat. Yet whenever I’m around her, I keep messing up. How do I get into the bookworm’s good books?

MILLIE

I thought that being Covington Prep’s sports reporter was my worst nightmare. And it is. All I want to do is write my book review column and share my love of books,

but now I’m following the Covington Chargers, interviewing players and writing football reports. Tennessee Jackson helps me with my first interview and sure, the confident football star is cute and tall and has all those muscles, but I’m happy in my world of imaginary book boyfriends. I don’t need a real one. And besides, we have absolutely nothing in common. I’m not interested in him at all. So, why can’t I stop thinking about him? And when I learn his secret why does my heart care so much?

Tropes and Things you’ll love:

❣️Jock + book nerd

❣️Sports Romance

❣️High school

❣️Opposites Attract

❣️Football Romance

❣️MMC is secretly dyslexic

❣️FMC is shy and has no confidence

❣️No spice, no swearing

Ok, this was actually really cute! Not my favorite, but still cute.

I’ve recently been getting into rom-coms and I feel like YA rom-coms are so relatable to me right now; because I’m a teenager in (homeschool) high school.

The whole jock x bookish nerd is a trope that seems to intrigue me, because in school it’s really uncommon for that to happen.

*~ Characters ~*

Millie was a cute and (shy yes) but she had this thing about her that made her intriguing, even to me. {It’s not just you who sees that, Tennessee!}I thought it was pretty cool that she was a sort of a reporter for the sports football team! -even though she knew nothing about sports-

Tennessee , Ten for short, was not the best MMC, but wasn’t the worst. I thought it was SO cute to see how he admired how smart Millie was and compare himself to her. And then we find out he has dyslexia. I felt so bad for him because he was so embarrassed about it, but Millie had the SWEETEST reaction to it! On top of all this, all the other side characters were done well!

*~ Conclusion ~*

I really liked this cute sports rom-com! It showed what a real high school couple (and im talking about a REAL couple who are complete opposites) should look like! I loved a lot of the quotes in this book, the author’s writing, and will be looking out for more of Kylie Key’s books. I would totally recommend this book if you’re looking for a sweet football romcom to enjoy, and definitely one that you’ll stay up reading till’ Millie and Tennessee get their HEA!

The Prisoner of Cell 25 by Richard Paul Evans

⚡️The Prisoner of Cell 25 by Richard Paul Evans⚡️

Book One in the Michael Vey series.

Blurb:

“THE STORY I’M ABOUT TO TELL YOU IS STRANGE. VERY STRANGE. IT’S MY STORY.”

To everyone at Meridian High School, Michael Vey is an ordinary fourteen-year. But MIchael is anything but ordinary – in fact, he’s electric.

When Michael’s best friends, Ostin Liss and cheerleader Taylor Ridley, make an accidental discovery, the three of them learn that there are other kids with similar powers – and that someone, or something, is hunting them.

After his mother is kidnapped, Michael will have to rely on his wits, his unique power, and his friends to fight the hunters, find his mother, and save the others.

My thoughts:

Talk about an interesting read!! I think it’s safe to say that I got sucked in from Chapter 1. I really enjoyed the story and how the plot progressed with each climactic chapter; I especially liked how clean it was!

I had been waiting to read this for a long time, and it exceeded my expectations that I wished I had read this way sooner!

~* Plot *~

So the whole super powers thing is really something I can get into. I don’t know if that’s because I’m a huge Marvel fan or something else, but I really love me a good paranormal story. I especially liked the fast paced rhythym that Evans kept through the whole book!

~* Characters *~

I loved everybody, really, except Dr. Hatch and Nichelle. Michael was a sweet innocent boy learning how to grow up and scope the ways of high school. I felt bad at how much he and his best friend Ostin got bullied. It’s so crazy how many books with a boy as the main character mostly never fails to have the “Bullied Runt becomes leader and becomes the most powerful* trope.

Taylor was also one of my favorites and I SO SHIP Michael and Taylor! She had powers as well… [spoiler!]➡️

honestly, anyone who has the power of telepathy is a big check ✅ for me! *Remind you of anyone from another series?*

Anyways the last person I’ll talk about is Ostin. Oh Ostin, Ostin. He was hilarious and just silly at the same time?! I mean he was really smart, like academically smart; but he was such a dork. It made him kind of lovable in a way?

~* Conclusion *~

I really enjoyed this book and fully intend to continue the series and see how Michael’s story develops! Though, I definitely need to buy the second book soon. If you’re looking for a Paranormal/Fantasy read with fast paced chapters that keep you turning pages furiously, then I would recommend reading this book!

But Bianca is on a mission to prove that she’s not the mess they think she is. Her grand plan?
